The hair grading system beginning in 2010, and it was a system coined by suppliers of hair extension to make their business more orderly. Secondly, the system was designed to determine the quality of every hair extension sold to clients. They also used the grading technique to set apart hair products by various companies. Nowadays, when clients purchase human hair products like 13X6 lace frontal wigs, they start by determining the grade.

Understanding the human hair grading system

Understanding the human hair grading system starts with knowing the different grades available. They are:

  • Grade 3A- This is the lowest quality of hair currently existing. However, between 2010 and 2011, it was the only existing type of human hair and was considered the best at the time.
  • Grade 4A- this type came around in 2012. At the time, it was considered the newest top grade of human hair.
  • Grade 5A- in 2013, this type was created as it became the best quality of human hair on the market at the time.
  • Grade 6A- this type replaced the Grade 5A hair in 2014. At the time, it was the best quality of human hair available on the market.
  • Grade 7A- This type came around in 2015 as the new top grade.
  • Garde 8A and 9A- these two types were at the top of the hierarchy between 2016 and 2017. Between the two, Grade 9A virgin hair was considered superior.
  • Grade 10 A- this is the highest quality of human hair. It was introduced in 2018 and still reigns as the best of all the grades mentioned above.

Important things to know about the grading system

Below are a few things you must understand about this grading system before going to the market to shop for wigs, hair extensions, and weaves;

  • The first thing is that there is no formal regulation of this human hair grading system. This means that sellers or manufacturers can advertise their products as a higher quality grade even if it does not meet the standards. This is especially the case with online sellers. Therefore, you ought to be careful and ensure that you shop from the most reputable stores.
  • Another essential thing to note is that the hair prices differ from one grade to the next. Naturally, the latest versions or the grades with higher numbers are more costly because they are believed to be of superior quality.
  • It is also worth noting that the grading trend does not end at Grade 10A. Every year, a company comes up with a grade with a higher value. However, in this post, we discuss Grade 10A as the latest because there isn’t a product with more superior qualities than this. While a few companies brand their products as Grade 11A, 12A, or 13A, the qualities are almost the same as those of Grade 10A.

Final word

If you are looking for the best 100% virgin or human hair, it would be best not to go for any product with a grade of not less than 9A. However, you still have to be keen on the seller because some people or stores bump the grades of their products to dupe clients into purchasing them.
